Appreciating What We Already Have: My Journey from Self-Doubt to Gratitude

Image
Hey everyone, it's been almost five years since my last blog post, but I'm excited to be back and share my journey with you guys. I took a break from blogging in October 2019 to go back to work because I was afraid that my online business wouldn't be enough to sustain me and my child's basic needs. However, I continued running my online business, Our Beauty Shoppe, which unexpectedly took off during pandemic, allowing me to save money and to start a small food business. In this post, I want to talk about how difficult it is for us to appreciate what we have and forget about them.  Right after I quit my job (September 2021) instead of focusing more on my online business, I invested a lot of money and effort in a small meat shop and food business, which was not my area of expertise, and ended up losing a lot of money, including my savings. It was a tough time, and I felt a mix of emotions, anger, regret, grief and self-blame. However, I realized that it had to happen to g...

Thoughts Are Things

Photo courtesy of www.onlythismoment.com I am going to share with you my personal experience the first time I came to know about Law of Attraction and I hope this will give you an understanding that thoughts will become things. 2009 was when I decided to study PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to add on my skills as an engineer so that I had a high probability of getting hired in-line to the course which I graduated, Electronics and Communication Engineering. At the end of the training, the instructors gave us some ebooks and a documentary movie to read and watch before we can get our certificate. The documentary movie that they gave us was The Secret: Law of Attraction. I watched it and I was pretty amazed. It resonated in my whole being given the consciousness I had at that time and it really felt good because it gave me an impression that I can change my life with my thoughts. Of course, as an engineer, I had a skeptical mind. My thoughts were, "Is this for real? W...

My First Ever Online Store

At the start of June, I was so excited for a lot of reasons; I resigned from my previous employment so I am now working full-time for my business, I can now go on vacation whenever I want to so I decided to go to my hometown Davao City, and lastly Mary Kay just announced a chance for us, beauty consultants, to travel to Hong Kong and be able to watch the Dream Beautiful contest, the making of a model. I knew deep in my heart that I can do it because they only require us to recruit 8 new team members for 3 months (June-August) and based on my past experience, I was able to recruit 7 team members in 3 months with no goals set whatsoever.  But the unexpected happened, I got sick after I had a facial booking at my friend's house. It was a rare disease and I am going to talk about it soon once I am completely healed. That's a promise! With that sickness, I was bedridden for few weeks and until now I still cannot walk. It has been more than a month already.  First ...

Keep the Fire Burning

I'm back! I'm back, I'm back in Cebu City...I was here way back 2010. I came here before to find a living and to work for my dreams together with my boyfriend. We never thought fate would bring us back to this place for the same reasons. Maybe, time was the only thing that changed. You might think, it isn't interesting but wait there's more. One day, I was cleaning the room I once lived; I found some old files from my previous job in MACbay Cafe. I was happy to find an old photo. To those who are coffee maker and coffee drinkers, you might know what is this; Caramel Latte. When we say latte, it's a combination of espresso and hot milk. So, as you can see on the photo, the bottom part was the Caramel syrup, followed by milk, then espresso and on top was the creamy foam. I really paste it on my room's wall to give me inspiration as I want to pursue what I have started here in Cebu. It was like this; three years ago I was given a huge opportunity, a chance...
