Breaking the Stigma: Choosing to Be a Single Mom

Image
It's Mother's Day today so I guess it would be perfect to share with you my motherhood journey and the valuable lessons I learned along the way. When I was 30 years old, I was single at that time, I prayed to God with all my heart to give me a child. And how could I bear a child if I didn't have a man? So, I included the father of my child in my prayers. Within just a week, my prayers were answered. I met the father of my child. I felt it was orchestrated by Divine plan because he too wanted a child. He even asked me if it's okay for me to get pregnant first before getting married. I didn't hesitate to say yes. 3 months after we met, I got pregnant. I felt mixed emotions but overall happy. Unfortunately, we didn't get so well so few weeks after I gave birth to my child, I broke up with him. I became a single mom. I'm sharing this to you because of the stigma of being a single mom. Like most would believed that being a single mom is pathetic, left by the fath...

Appreciating What We Already Have: My Journey from Self-Doubt to Gratitude

Image
Hey everyone, it's been almost five years since my last blog post, but I'm excited to be back and share my journey with you guys. I took a break from blogging in October 2019 to go back to work because I was afraid that my online business wouldn't be enough to sustain me and my child's basic needs. However, I continued running my online business, Our Beauty Shoppe, which unexpectedly took off during pandemic, allowing me to save money and to start a small food business. In this post, I want to talk about how difficult it is for us to appreciate what we have and forget about them.  Right after I quit my job (September 2021) instead of focusing more on my online business, I invested a lot of money and effort in a small meat shop and food business, which was not my area of expertise, and ended up losing a lot of money, including my savings. It was a tough time, and I felt a mix of emotions, anger, regret, grief and self-blame. However, I realized that it had to happen to g...

Allow Others To Love You

Image
On my previous blog " Shame On Me ", I shared with you how I shut down emotionally. Well, we all know that emotional pain is more tormenting than physical pain. Emotional abuse is more terrible than physical abuse. I did that when I was a child because I did not want to get hurt anymore. But, when we numb ourselves from pain, we also numb ourselves from love. Therefore, I did not know how to love and to be affectionate. It was unknown to me and so no wonder no one can love me as much as I wanted to be loved. After my breakdown this year which I shared on " It's Okay Not To Be Okay ", it made me become aware of how low my self-worth is and how I hated myself for all these years. Therefore, I did not love myself in my deepest core. Yeah, sad truth. And so, I dedicated this year to love myself again unconditionally and completely 100%.  One more thing, based on what I have learned from Teal Swan's video which I posted on " Why We Broke Up? ",...

Shame On Me

Image
Few weeks before my birthday I got into circumstances that led me into a realization that I was filled with guilt and shame. I also found out other negative core beliefs that I had been carrying around all through out my life and these are: I deserve punishment, I deserve to suffer, I don't deserve to be happy and I don't deserve to be loved. These are the emotional pains I did not let myself feel when I was a child because it was too painful and unbearable. For you to better understand what I am talking about I am going to share with you my childhood. I grew up as a rebellious child when I was around 4-7 years old. I and my little brother were left in the care of other people because our mother had to work from early in the morning until late in the evening and we only saw our father during weekend. I cannot bear the thought of being neglected or abandoned so I did stupid things so I can get the attention I needed. I pushed my brother into the flood with earthworms an...

Keep the Fire Burning

I'm back! I'm back, I'm back in Cebu City...I was here way back 2010. I came here before to find a living and to work for my dreams together with my boyfriend. We never thought fate would bring us back to this place for the same reasons. Maybe, time was the only thing that changed. You might think, it isn't interesting but wait there's more. One day, I was cleaning the room I once lived; I found some old files from my previous job in MACbay Cafe. I was happy to find an old photo. To those who are coffee maker and coffee drinkers, you might know what is this; Caramel Latte. When we say latte, it's a combination of espresso and hot milk. So, as you can see on the photo, the bottom part was the Caramel syrup, followed by milk, then espresso and on top was the creamy foam. I really paste it on my room's wall to give me inspiration as I want to pursue what I have started here in Cebu. It was like this; three years ago I was given a huge opportunity, a chance...

I was healed

It has been an opportunity to be here in Singapore for the second time around without any expense coming out from my own wallet. Isn't it amazing? Unlike my first trip, it was full of work but now it isn't. I get a lot of time to roam around the city. And yes, that's what I did on my first week of stay here. Unfortunately, I didn't have my own digital camera. If you notice I haven't put any pictures in this blog...hehehe. So, I was hoping that someone could give a camera or just let me borrow his/her camera. Poor girl. Well, I was so luck because I have a lot of friends here and they were all very supportive of me and so they let me borrow their cam. Everyday, all I did was to have some fun and enjoy. After a week of doing it, I got tired as well. I wished that someday I could stay home also. So, for my second week here in Singapore, I stayed home most of the time. That's why I was able to write this blog. I lost track of my budget and I guess it's better to...

Thankful

Remember last week, I told you that I was confused. But this week, not anymore! I kept on praying last weekend about my life. Just this last Sunday, I realized that life has a lot to offer for me. God really answers my prayers right away all the time. You just have to feel good every moment of your life. Yeah, honestly it's really hard. It is not that easy. But, don't you ever forget that our God is the most understanding of all. What's more is that I'll be leaving for Singapore this week. I am really excited because according to my boss, I will meet one of his colleagues who is based in Dubai. He said because I need more exposure. Mmm, I like it! I just wish I can meet a rich businessman or investor for my idea. I also hope that I can formulate a very great idea from Singapore which could give a big business venture and income. I will learn as much as I can about business. That's my passion. I will just hope that my boss will agree to me. Yeah, I might hurt my ...

Missing the Old Memories

I check my Facebook now twice today looking at the photos of my friends and reading my news feed. I saw a pic of my CAT days and after that I missed the old memories. I missed everything in the past from my preschool, elementary, high school and college. Because I can compare right now that my life before was so simple. Unlike now, it is going to the direction of seriousness...hehehe I always dream of going back to my past but I know it won't be possible anymore. In fact, I am more excited to go home to Davao rather than to Singapore. Sad to say that some of my friends are not there in Davao. They are working abroad. Because of this, I think I really have to move on. Luckily today, I met Liza for a few months of not seeing each other. Nice to know that she is starting to move on with her life after breaking up with her boyfriend. Also, I had an enjoyable dinner with my new colleagues here in Cebu. Sir Tony, Irish, Gil, Delmi, Sir Bong, Yayabs, Mark, and Dacs. Regarding about ...

Confused???

I have been  a manager of a coffee shop for a few months now. Yes, I did well last month. I delivered what is expected of me. But, I am really confused right now because I have so many mentors. Lord, I really need your guidance about what I am going to do. In fact, I am very thankful for the success that I had last month.Sir Jonas kept on asking me what did I do and he thought that I was just doing guest work. Well, honestly, I felt bad about it. Anyways, he might be right so let's forget it. Lord, You have given me a lot of customers everyday that from an average sales of 1000, it went up to 2000. Even Sir Jonas kept on asking me for an answer, I really cannot answer it. That's how great our God is. I thought. When the Halloween was approaching, my sales are getting slow until now. And, I did a bad move. I was expecting that this All Saints Day and All Souls Day, we have a lot of customer that it could double but it did not. I was like getting a sales of 1000 a day. I also...
